The 2021 Color of the Year will Teal the Spotlight

The Greek philosopher Plato gets credit for the idea of mixing two different paint colors to produce a third color, but we have Benjamin Moore to thank for making Aegean Teal 2136-40 the inspired choice for 2021’s Color of the Year.

As inviting and as soothing as Greece’s bluish-green sea, Aegean Teal 2136-40 is an exceptional balance of blue, green and grey. This intriguing midtone creates natural harmony and a sense of calm, inviting an opportunity to reflect and reset amidst softened, casual elegance. Imagine it transforming kitchen cabinets, a living room, a bedroom or becoming a high-gloss finish to bring shine to accent pieces or the front door. Hello, beautiful!

Aegean Teal 2136-40 is perfectly positioned on the color wheel between cooler and warmer colors, and reflects the beauty of small, simple moments shared at home.

“Amid uncertainty, people yearn for stability. The paint colors we surround ourselves with can have a powerful impact on our emotions and wellbeing,” says AndreaMagno, Benjamin Moore Director of Color Marketing and Development.

“Aegean Teal and the corresponding Color Trends 2021 palette express a welcoming, lived-in quality that celebrated the connections and real moments that take place within the home.”

The Color Trends 2021 palette features 12 unique paint colors with a sunbaked quality as if you left them out in the sun and they ripened. Each of these paint colors were chosen for their time-tested appeal, inherent warmth and ability to refresh the spirit and revitalize your space. We think Plato would approve.
